Itinerary
Day 1 Cusco - Wayllabamba
Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu We will pick you up from your accommodation at 4:00 am and start the tour that will take us to Piscacuchu, also known as "km 82", at 2,700 meters above sea level.
We will continue the journey along the Urubamba River through the flat terrain until we reach Miskay. We will ascend to a viewpoint in the highest area of the mountain where we will be able to appreciate the impressive Inca city of Llactapata.
We will continue our journey through the valley created by the Kusichaca River, a five-hour stretch where we will enjoy the native flora and fauna, until we finally arrive at our campsite in Wayllabamba (3,000m above sea level).
Day 2 Wayllabamba - Picaymayo
We will continue to meet the hardest part of the route, a high climb where the landscape changes from sierra to puno (very dry landscape with little vegetation). We will pass through the Abra warmiwañusca(Dead Woman's Pass - 4.200m high), in this area we will be able to see llamas and domesticated alpacas.
We will pass through a cloud forest where many types of typical Andean birds live.
We will go down to the Pacaymayo valley (3,600m high) where we will camp under the stars.
Day 3 Picaymayo - Wiñaywayna
We will visit the second pass of Abra Runkurakay, an archaeological complex at 3,970 meters above sea level.
Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu for the world
We will walk through the village of Yanacocha and enter the cloud forest to reach the Sayacmarca ruins (3,624m).
We will follow the route passing through an ancient tunnel until we reach the Phuyupatamarca Archaeological Ruins, which means "city above the clouds", as it is at the highest point of the mountain.
Day 4 Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cuzco
We will begin the tour along a rocky route built by the Incas that connects with the citadel of Machu Picchu. We will enter the site through the Sun Gate, known as Inti Punku, we will experience one of the most magical moments of the tour: watching the sunrise over the sacred citadel of the Incas.
we will take a 2-hour tour with a guide who will explain all the details of the Inca Sanctuary. We will have free time to enjoy on our own and we will be able to visit places like the Temple of the Moon or the Inca Bridge.
Around 13:00 pm we will take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes, we will have free time to have lunch and visit the town of Aguas Calientes and then take the train back to the city of Cuzco.
